These rentals are close to the Normandy Coast and are in a perfect location for exploring the D-Day beaches, the coastal towns and Mont St Michel.

The main house of 'Fleur de Lys" was built over 200 years ago out of the local "Caen" stone and originally served as a wheelwrights home.  The house has been thoroughly renovated to bring it up to todays standards whilst keeping its authenticity.  Outside enjoy access to the garden which is beautifully planted.  There are tables and chairs for your use as well as a BBQ for which we can provide coals at cost.

It is a great area for cycling and walking and is found on the circuit of recomended cycle routes and walking paths.  Nearby is the village playing field where we find a tennis and petanque court.  This is the best horse country in Normandy and there are horse riding schools nearby.  For golfers we are two miles away from Omaha Beach Golf Course rated one of the top 50 courses in France with a very challenging 36 holes.

Port-en-Bessin a five minute drive away.  It is an active fishing port famous for its Scallop Festival and a fish market which attracts buyers from Paris.  Every Sunday at Port, there is a great produce market for which France is so renowned.  In season, there are fireworks, entertainment and market on Friday night too.  Several restaurants feature fish and shellfish.

Bayeux is a ten minute drive.  It is a charming medieval town.  Not to be missed are its Cathedral, timber-framed buildings and shops.  Most famous is the Bayeux Tapestry Museum.   Market day is on Saturday.

The hamlet of Maisons is semi-rural and boasts a 17th century chateau, medieval church and beautiful tree lined avenue and several rivers.  It is ideally situated to explore the landing beach area.  It was close to Maisons that the British 47 RM Commandos fresh from victory at Port-en-Bessin secured a bridgehead with the American soldiers of the "Big Red One" (1st Infantry Div.) who were coming east after landing at Omaha Beach.

Omaha Beach itself is a twenty minute drive away and quite apart from its historical pull is also the best family beach in the area.  It offers a five mile stretch of golden sand with safe bathing and paddling.
